Why uphill Lincoln is exposed

The historic core around the Cathedral, the Castle and Bailgate sits on top of the Lincoln Edge, the limestone ridge that runs the length of the county. Height brings weather. Condensation, by contrast, favours cold corners and hidden surfaces, and rising damp keeps to a low, level band. The distinctions matter because the remedies share almost nothing.
